Crystal Nail File?! | GERmanikure Review

Hi loves!

Today I have a product review for your guys. I was contacted by a nail product company called GERmanikure and they were nice enough to send me some goodies to share with you guys!

From the beginning of my contact with this brand, I really enjoyed what they were about. The company itself is all about ethical business practices and workmanship. They are very landfill conscious when it comes to their products and packaging of those products. They also claim to be working on some amazing campaigns. Some of which I’ll add in from their email: “We are about to embark on an anti-child labor campaign, and will be sponsoring a nail-art contest among other things to bring awareness to the practice. We also contribute a portion of all sales to give back to families victimized by child labor in Pakistan and Vietnam.” How cool right?? Now what do I think of the products?

I received two crystal glass nail files and I AM A FAN. They were packaged in hand stitched leather cases and each file is engraved with a unique message. One file says “I’m Grateful” and the other “Books and Coffee” (they have tons of messages to choose from).  The files themselves are made with high quality glass and are shatter/crack resistant. They can be used wet or dry and on your natural and artificial nails! I have used a glass file in the past, but I never made it a habit. That being said, I was eager to see how it compared to the performance of my typical disposable files. Would it be gritty enough? How can I clean it?

I first tried this file on my artificial hard gel nails and it worked beautifully. It seemed to glide SO much smoother over my nail than the non-glass files I’ve used. Next I tried shaping my natural nails (toenails) with the glass file and it worked just as great. I especially enjoyed that this file was more quiet than the others. You don’t hear as much of the grinding noise when shaping your nails which is awesome.

My final thoughts? I want more! I really enjoy these files and I would love to have a few more for my nail business. These products are not disposable and can be cleaned and sanitized, so they will last SO long! This means less waste, better business practices for the environment, and they are super cute. Each of these files are priced at around $12 currently, but they are having a few sales on their site.

Thank you all so much for reading? What do you think of these products? Do you use glass nail files yourself? If you’ve tried them, I’d love to hear what you think! I hope your day is fabulous; love and light! :)

Nails Of The Day!

Hey guys!

Today’s manicure has to be one of my most simple, yet favorite look I’ve done in a while. I wanted to play around with half moon looks while incorporating Spring colors. I chose a light pink and silver dots to finish off the manicure. *A quick tip: if your half moon edges are a little messy, just cover the line with nail art like I did! You can do dots, lines, or rhinestones to disguise any messiness and your manicure will look fabulous!

Products Used:

Revlon Pink Lingerie

Sally Hansen Celeb City

Probelle Top Coat

Dotting Tool

Thank you guys so much for stopping by! I will be sharing a new nail art tutorial VERY soon. I’m thinking dream catchers?? Leave me some of your design suggestions you’d like to see as well. I hope your day is awesome; love and light! :)

How To Make Your Gel Nails Last!

Hey guys!

I recently had a reader ask a great question about gel nails. She wanted to know some tips to help her gel manicure last longer. So, today I’m sharing the tricks that I use on my own clients to achieve a beautiful gel manicure that will last two weeks and more! If you guys enjoy, feel free to use the social sharing buttons below and share with your friends. Let’s get started!

Avoid Water

Excess exposure to water is the enemy of all nail enhancements. To ensure your gel nails apply correctly and stay on, the nails need to be wiped dry and dehydrated. You should make sure to wear gloves when washing dishes and such to ensure the edges don’t begin to peel.

Dehydrate the Nail

As I mentioned, it is important to make sure your natural nails are completely clean and dry before having gels applied. You’ll want to remove all old polish, buff the nail lightly to give the gel texture to hold onto, and then dehydrate the nail. This may sound odd, but simply using alcohol will remove the excess nail oils and moisture allowing the gel to adhere better and last longer!

Don’t File Your Edges

This is a huge tip that many people don’t think about. The important element that allows your gel nails to stay intact, is the edges being sealed with gel. If you were to file, clip, or buff the edges after they’re done, you are breaking the seal and allowing the gel to lift.

Seal the Edges

This tip goes hand in hand with filing. When you’re actually applying the gel onto the nail, make sure you apply a thin layer to the edge. Once cured in the light, the edge is then sealed and doesn’t allow moisture or debris to get under the enhancement. This makes sure your gel nails last as long as they can.

Don’t Pick

Try your hardest to leave your gels alone. I know many people have the habit of picking at their nails, but this will ruin the gel. Unlike normal polish, gel will peel off of your nail plate in a single layer. Once this is peeled, it takes layers of your natural nail with it. This causes your nails to become thin and brittle.

That’s it for today’s tips! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learned some cool new stuff. If you have any of your own tips, please leave them in the comments below. Love and light! :)

Nails Of The Day!

Hey guys!

Today I’m sharing the manicure that I’m currently rocking. This is my first set after moving, so I wanted to switch it up a little. I used gel polish for the base and glitter polish for the accent nail.

IMG_3776

I had been missing my long nails for the past several weeks, so I had to bring them back! I went a tad longer than I usually do with my tips and I’m loving it. I decided to keep them slightly rounded on the ends and make the edges not perfectly square. They are almost “coffin” shaped but not quite. I then used China Glaze’s Liquid Leather Gelaze polish for the black and followed up with Sinful Colors Queen of Beauty for the silver glitter.

Thank you all so much for stopping by! Keep an eye out for my Wednesday post which will be all about hair! Until then, love and light! :)
