Helpful Salon Tips From a Nail Tech

Hey guys!

I wanted today’s post to be helpful for anyone who visits a salon. If you’re getting your makeup, hair, or nails professionally done, there are a few rules to go by that will make your beauty professional fall in love with you! These are ways to ensure your salon visits are enjoyable, relaxing, and go by smoothly each time. Besides, don’t you want a great relationship with the person in control of your hair, face, or nails?? Here are my top tips:

  • Don’t pick off your enhancements! Book an appointment to get them removed. This will save your natural nails from unnecessary damage.
  • Prebook your next appointment before you leave. This ensures you have a slot in the books for your fill in or touch up!
  • If you have to cancel, give them AT LEAST 24 hours notice. This gives them time to fill your spot so they don’t waste that time for potential work.
  • Tip, tip, tip! You wouldn’t believe how much a nail tech/hairdresser’s income depends on tips.
  • Don’t use your phone during your manicure. This slows down our work and it’s also a bit rude..
  • Let them know your nail/hair concerns or goals. We want you to be happy!

That’s it for today! Thank you all for stopping by! If you have any other points to add, please leave them in the comments below. I hope your day is awesome; love and light! :)

How To Choose A Quality Nail Salon

Hey guys!

We all know how common nail salons are in towns all across the country. With so many options, how do you know which to choose (or NOT choose)? When it comes to picking the best salon, there are a few aspects that set them apart from the rest. I’m sharing my best tips today to keep you all informed to receive the safest services you possibly can. Let’s get into it!

Is there a strong odor in the salon?

This is s huge tip off that nail salons may not be up to code. We all know the dreaded smell that comes from acrylic, but it shouldn’t be overbearing. By law, salons are required to have a certain ventilation system in place to protect your physical health from the fumes. If you can’t escape the odor, I would suggest leaving!

Are the stations clean and tidy?

Sanitation is a HUGE factor when choosing a quality salon. If you see used tools and towels scattered around the manicure and pedicure areas, it could be a big sign that they are not up to standards with sanitation. Nail technicians are required to go through a cleaning and disinfection process after EACH client. Don’t let them put your health in danger!

Are there the same amount of licenses per nail tech displayed?

This is a problem that is far too common. If you ever see way more techs that licenses on the wall, its a possibility that they are practicing against the law. If you ever feel uncomfortable about someone who is working on your nails, it is completely okay to request more information, or postpone the service.

Does your nail tech get to know your needs?

A sign of a good quality salon is one whose nail tech’s care about your needs. If your tech is communicating and learning about your nail health and lifestyle, they are one to stick with! This ensures you get the best personalized service possible. You will most likely be more satisfied with your nails as well.

That’s it for today’s tips! I hope you guys found this post helpful and informative! I am already planning a part 2 because I have SO much more to share. My goal is to inform consumers and nail enthusiasts to ensure you get the safest and best services that you can. Feel free to use the social media buttons below to share this article with your friends so they stayed informed also! I hope your day is awesome; love and light! :)

Makeup Of The Day!

What’s up guys?!

First I wanted to say thank you for all the love on my last post. I’m so stoked to share more of my life with you guys! Today I wanted to share my makeup look for the day. My go-to look always involves winged liner and this time I’ve paired it with a dark lip.

Since I chose a more dramatic lip and wing, I kept my shadow minimal and more natural toned. The Naked 2 Palette is perfect for natural shadows that are great quality. I also skipped on any blush and chose full coverage foundation and concealer.

Eyeliner: NYC Liquid Liner

Lippie: Jordana “Smooth Merlot”

Foundation: Maybelline Fit Me “Matte and Poreless”

Concealer: Maybelline Fit Me

Hair Color: Feria “Intense Medium Auburn”

Thank you so much for stopping by! Look out for a Valentine’s Day nail art post coming up next. Love and light! :)

Skin Saving Tips For Winter Weather

Hey guys!

We all know our skin can be a pain to deal with in the dry winter months. So, what’s a girl to do other than applying lotion nonstop?? Today I’m sharing some helpful tips to keep your skin luminous and hydrated this season.

 Using Moisturizing Products

cream-194116_1920

This tip is super obvious so we’ll go ahead and get it out of the way. Many people underestimate the power of applying a simple hand cream once a day. Lotions and oils will be your best friend during the dry winter months. Make sure you’re using thicker creams and hand lotions for your hands and body.

Oils can be used from head to toe as well. I love using an organic blend of natural oils for my face moisturizer during winter. It allows my skin to stay hydrated without increasing excess oils which used to be an issue for me. I also add argan oil to my favorite body lotion to keep my skin super moisturized. Cuticle oil is also a go to for my nails and toes as you guys know. You would definitely benefit from checking out natural oils!

Conditioning Treatments

Conditioning treatments can be a luxurious added step to any skin care and hair care routine. I personally suggest applying a hair mask or deep conditioning treatment in between regular shampooing and conditioning. A holy grail product for me is John Frieda’s Leave In Conditioner. It’s a spray product that can be applied on your damp hair before blow drying and styling. It leaves your hair smooth to the touch and visibly shiny!

Lip balms or salves are also a must have in the winter! I love to apply my organic lip balm after a shower and once again before bed.

Hydrate

Everyone knows how beneficial water is for our body. Did you know the recommended amount of water an adult should consume a day? It is suggested to drink eight glasses of water daily to receive the full benefits of hydration.

Exfoliate

Our skin tends to become excessively dry in the cold months. To combat this, regular exfoliation is recommended. I like to limit my face exfoliation to twice a week and a full body exfoliation three to four times a week. This routine keeps my skin smooth to the touch and lessens the amount of times I have to apply lotions.

Avoid Harsh Products

If you have practiced most of these tips and still aren’t satisfied with your skin’s condition, your problem may be the product you’re using. Your skin may be sensitive to the harsh chemicals that make up your soaps and body washes. Try opting for products that are organic, or made with mostly natural ingredients!

Thank you all so much for stopping by. I hope this article was helpful and you picked up a new skin saving tip to try out. Do you have any more tips to share? Leave them in the comments below! I hope your day is amazing; love and light! :)

How To Use Instagram to Grow Your Brand

Hi loves!

Today I wanted to share my ideas for using Instagram to grow your brand or business! We all know how huge Instagram has become all across the world and we all love it, right?? I wanted to share my top tips for using your own Instagram feed as your personal online portfolio. Since we are working with a strictly visual social media platform, your photos are the most important!

Editing Your Photos

Making your photos pop on Instagram is a MUST! In a sea of photos, you need to help yours stand out among the rest. Your photos will look most professional with no filter and great lighting. I suggest taking your photos against a plain color background (I like to use white), and only touching up the highlights and saturation!

Cropping and Sizing Your Photos

Instagram favors a perfect square crop for its uploads to look their best. This means you should always keep in mind this ratio when shooting or cropping your photos. Having a cohesive layout is one of the aspects that viewers really enjoy about your feed. This is still an aspect I’m working on myself, so I’m hopefully to have my feed looking pretty cohesive soon!

Consistency is Key

Instagram is a completely visual platform used by millions of people around the world. That being said, your photos have the potential to be seen by a large audience daily. It’s important to have consistency when uploading your images so they don’t get lost in the continuing feed of photos. Posting 2-3 times a day helps to grow your initial following, keep your photos at the top of the feed, and increase your chances of brand awareness!

Thank you guys for reading! I hope you found this helpful and picked up a few new tips to use for your own profile. I hope your day is fabulous; love and light! :)

Rocksbox Unboxing | Designer Jewelry

Hi loves!

Today I wanted to share an unboxing of a jewelry subscription box called Rocksbox. It’s basically a rental service for designer jewelry pieces shipped right to your door! After receiving and rocking your new pieces, you have the option to buy them individually to keep, or send them back to receive a new box of all new pieces. This is my first box and I wanted to share what I received. Spoiler alert…I LOVE it all!

The packaging is THE cutest!

IMG_3325IMG_3326IMG_3327IMG_3328

I received three pieces in this month’s box from Kendra Scott, House of Harlow, and Gorjana. They each arrived in their own super cute packaging.

Inside were a gorgeous set of earrings, an adjustable bangle, and a layered necklace!

FullSizeRender

Gorjana- gold layered necklace

House of Harlow- gold and black cuff

Kendra Scott- platinum drusy earrings

Which piece is your favorite? I think I’m in love with the gold bracelet! It will go so well with my style and color scheme. I really feel that the bracelet and earrings are well worth the price point. The necklace however, feels a tad on the cheap side, so I don’t think I’ll be purchasing that piece. Overall, I love this set and will totally rock each one! :)

You guys can sign up at rocksbox.com if you’re interested and use my code AMYBFF789 to get your first box FREE! Thank you all so much for stopping by! I hope your day is awesome; love and light! :)
