I’ve Moved | New Salon!

Hey guys!

Today I’m sharing another nail update! I recently moved out of my nail suite and joined a local salon! I still have my own nail room in this full salon and I finally finished moving everything in. I’m enjoying the set up so far, so I wanted to share the room with you guys. I plan on filming a tour of my set up soon, but for now I’ll be sharing some photos.

This is the first look when you walk into the the nail room. I have my manicure table in a corner to maximize the space the best I can. I’ve added a mirror to the far wall to help open up the space, but I think I’ll be adding a bigger mirror soon.

This wall has to be my favorite! I’ve laid everything out the same as my previous room, so not much has changed. *And yes, I will be fixing the crooked wall rack that’s driving me crazy!* The wall rack houses my normal lacquer, and the table top rack is just for my gel polish.

This space next to the manicure table is where I keep my paraffin bath. My set up includes a table for the paraffin bath, disposable gloves and socks, and some faux plants. It fits perfectly in the corner, so it doesn’t take up much space.

This corner is the pedicure area! My hydraulic chair fits perfectly here with a plush rug for extra comfort.

Helpful Salon Tips From a Nail Tech

Hey guys!

I wanted today’s post to be helpful for anyone who visits a salon. If you’re getting your makeup, hair, or nails professionally done, there are a few rules to go by that will make your beauty professional fall in love with you! These are ways to ensure your salon visits are enjoyable, relaxing, and go by smoothly each time. Besides, don’t you want a great relationship with the person in control of your hair, face, or nails?? Here are my top tips:

• Don’t pick off your enhancements! Book an appointment to get them removed. This will save your natural nails from unnecessary damage.
• Prebook your next appointment before you leave. This ensures you have a slot in the books for your fill in or touch up!
• If you have to cancel, give them AT LEAST 24 hours notice. This gives them time to fill your spot so they don’t waste that time for potential work.
• Tip, tip, tip! You wouldn’t believe how much a nail tech/hairdresser’s income depends on tips.
• Don’t use your phone during your manicure. This slows down our work and it’s also a bit rude..
• Let them know your nail/hair concerns or goals. We want you to be happy!

Today I wanted to share the story of my nail salon, Polished by Amy Nail Spa. I’m currently going into my sixth month in business and I thought it would be a great idea to share the story of my salon and the mission behind it all. First, here’s a little background to catch you up to speed:

I received my nail technician license in 2014 and immediately began working in local salons. I worked as a booth renter and employee of three different salons, as well as traveling as a mobile nail tech for an on-location company. After a few years of experiencing the industry in these different ways, I realized I would thrive the most in my own environment. Because of this, I decided to open my very own nail studio in Lafayette, Georgia which was the birth of Polished by Amy Nail Spa!

The main aspect of my business model is to align my salon with the health conscious client. I opted for providing only natural nail services with an emphasis on natural products and steering away from acrylics because of the harsh chemicals and fumes involved with those enhancements. This creates a more inviting, relaxing, and safe environment for my clientele as well as children or expectant mothers. It’s my goal as a nail technician to improve, perfect, and maintain the natural nail so you don’t have the need for enhancements!

Another one of my favorite aspects of my studio is my pipeless pedicure spa. Typical jetted foot spas contain an element of risk because of the difficulty of disinfecting the pipes and drains. This can leave you open to infection. However, in my salon I opted for an electric foot spa with disposable liners for each client. This ensures the foot bath is completely safe and sanitary for each client!

Lastly, I wanted to share a quick list of some of the major aspects that make my nail salon unique. I strive to promote healthy and beautiful nails in a healthy and calm environment!

Nail Art and Vegan Polish!

Hey guys!

Today I wanted to share some nail art designs that I created this week. I’ve been really inspired to pump out new looks that you guys can easily recreate. I used a dotting tool for the first two looks, and a brush for the last design. I think my favorite part about these is the fact that they are all done with vegan/organic polish! SOPHi nail polish is my current favorite brand that provides 5-free and vegan polish choices. They’re expanding their color range all the time, and I’m excited to share the whole line with you guys soon. I have each shade linked if you’re interested in any of the colors. Let’s get into it!
