Blog Anniversary! | New Business Venture

Happy Blog Anniversary to me!

Yesterday, May 5th, marked my one year anniversary of beginning my blogging journey! My very first post, “Aspiring to Inspire“, makes me realize that I have followed my dreams this entire year. I began this journey to reach many more people that share my passion and teach along the way. I really feel that I have done my best to “grow my little empire” so far in my career! I am also BEYOND thankful for all the 2,200+ followers that have decided to join me so far. You all have been so amazing and encouraging to me and make me LOVE the blogging community. The beauty community especially has made me love what I do. Getting to hear your stories and feedback is what keeps me writing and posting. So a huge thank you once again!! :)
Call it perfect timing, but I wanted to share a huge update with you guys! I enjoy these heart to heart sessions we have so I wanted to let you in on my current thought process!

As you may know from my post last month, I have recently began working as a booth renter in a new salon. There have been a few bumps in the road so far, but nothing more than expected and I’m still very much enjoying most aspects of it! However, earlier this week I had a realization. I discovered that I am still not driving my dream in the right direction and that is what has been keeping me feeling in limbo. I understand in any business there will be times of uncertainty when starting your career or making a huge change to something new. Specifically for me in the beauty industry, I feel the need to be free… That’s the best way I can explain it.

By free I mean working for myself completely. I am most comfortable being in control of my own destiny, my own success, and my own failures. The “booth renter” aspect is almost as close as you can get to being free in this way. However, after working this way in two different salons, I know there will always be someone able to throw a curve ball (that’s a nice way of describing it), and alter the way I do my own business. I realized there is another option out there… After much thought, I decided to take the plunge and create my own business entirely! I will be doing two things I love: creating fabulous nails and traveling! I am extending my Polished by Amy brand into a traveling “on location” nail business!
This has always been something I’ve dreamed to do because of the convienience for myself and clients! This also allows me to work on dream locations such as fashion shows and photoshoots in the future. As for now, I am beginning the journey of starting up my business locally. I am taking care of all paperwork this week to make it official! I also know there will be plenty of doubt and skepticism from others, but that’s never stopped me before! I am always true to myself and follow my gut. That’s one thing I can always preach with much certainty that you should always go after your dreams, big or small, no matter what’s standing in between. The time will pass anyway…so start today! :)

Thank you all so much for taking the time to stop by and read! I love getting to update you all and getting your feedback and stories from your own experiences. If you had a similar situation, or one just about going after a dream, I’d LOVE to hear it! Have an amazing day beauties! :)

XX, Amy

Congrats on your 1 yr blog anniversary! And your new business venture sounds amazing. I once went to my friend’s place and a nail technician came over and did all of our mani / pedis – it was so relaxing doing it in the comfort of the home. We tipped her pretty good! :D

Congratulations Amy on your blog anniversary and following your dreams. It takes a lot of courage to bet on yourself and I applaud you for being in control of your own destiny. I have worked in the beauty industry for some years part time and I fully understand where you’re coming from. I wish you all the best and maybe we can collaborate in the future😊

congratulations girl!! I’m super excited for your traveling nail business! You totally should do it! Lots of people I know get “in home mani/pedi’s” for friends that just had babies and haven’t been able to leave the house yet. So you should definitely market to people with new kids :)
